*Literary Theory (Literary Criticism) or Linguistics or Rhetoric and Composition
1 course chosen from “English 1” (Old English, Middle English, Renaissance, Seventeenth Century, Restoration and Eighteenth Century)
1 course chosen from “English 2” (Romantic, Victorian, Modern British, Contemporary British)
1 course chosen from “American 1” (Colonial American Literature to 1800, Nineteenth-Century American Literature)
1 course chosen from “American 2” (Modern American, Contemporary American)
11 Elective English courses

*Note: If any of these requirements are met with a course taken as an undergraduate, then another seminar must be taken to reach the total of 18 seminars beyond the BA degree.
