Aeolian Harpings Announcement

September 8, 2008 Other Announcements 0

If you attend a conference or publish a scholarly work, please send an announcement to Julie Sherrod. This announcement will appear in the Aeolian Harpings to inform professors and students affiliated with the English department of graduate student involvement in professional development. This heightened awareness will help to ensure university support for professional opportunities in the future.

A Note from the English Office:

It is actually better if the students write the information out like they want it listed in the Harpings. To prevent any grammatical errors, I can just copy the information sent to me and paste it into the document. I will include a couple of entries that students have sent me showing what they listed. The students can give as much or as little information as they want, but it is better that they include the title of their paper, where they presented it at and when, and the journal/publication it was published in.

Jessica Hooten’s article “Individualism in Flannery O’Connor’s A Good Man is Hard to Find and Other Short Stories” has been accepted for publication in The Explicator.

Adrienne Akins presented a paper titled “‘By the Sweat of Thy Brow’: Work, Gender, and Eden in Cather’s My Ántonia and Hurston’s ‘Sweat'” at the 2008 Cather Symposium in Red Cloud, Nebraska on June 5
