Vivien thought you would all find these notes (below) from the recent GSA meeting interesting. Enjoy!
News from the August GSA meeting
The GSA Barbecue (free and open to all students and their families) will be held on Saturday, September 26th in Cameron Park, time and exact location TBA.
We had a speaker come in from the Waco Chamber of Commerce. She shared lots of interesting information with us. Here are a few highlights:
– There will be a “College get to know Waco day” from 4-9pm this Saturday, September 12, in Heritage Square, Downtown Waco. The first 1000 people get free hamburgers (after that they’ll be selling hamburgers). There will also be music and entertainment, and trolley tours of Waco.
– There is a new, free shuttle service from Baylor to Downtown Waco. It runs 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each weekday that Baylor is in session, completing its loop every 15 minutes, and you can catch it at Penland Hall. It’s called the DASH (“Downtown Area Shuttle”).
– We got a lot of interesting literature from the Waco Chamber of Commerce. I’ll distribute it in the Writing Center and the TA offices, so have a look if want to know more about what’s going on in Waco.
The GSA women’s intramural coordinator is seeking participants for Women’s Ultimate Frisbee and Flag Football. If you want to play, contact firstname.lastname@example.org before September 16th.
The next GSA meeting will be Thursday, September 24th, at 6 pm in Morrison Hall, room 120. All are welcome, and there will be pizza!
