Women in the Academy Conference

All graduate students and newer faculty are welcome (males and females) to discuss the faculty and staff roles of women in the academy. With registration only $15 and the event in your backyard including breakfast and lunch, you have nothing to lose. Registration closes April 7, so get a move on! In the Next Two Weeks (March 31-April 13)

General EGSA Meeting

Tuesday, April 3 at 11:15 am, location TBA
At the meeting, we will be available to (attempt to) answer any questions about offer letter procedures and funding, and discuss open positions for the EGSA elections, (and whatever else the Council thinks we should discuss). Then we will walk to the picnic together.

Southern Writers/Southern Writing Graduate Conference – 4/2

The Graduate Students in the Department of English invite you to submit abstracts exploring Southern literature and writers. Accepted submissions will be presented in Oxford, Mississippi, 12-14 July 2012. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Suzanne Marrs, the Welty Foundation Scholar in Residence at Millsaps College and the official biographer of Eudora Welty.

Please send a 200–300-word abstract of a critical work or an entire creative work to swswgradconference@gmail.com. The conference reading-limit for critical works is 15 minutes. Panel proposals that include three or four participants are also welcome. Please send your submissions as Word attachments and include your university affiliation, summer address, and e-mail address. The deadline for submissions is Monday, 2 April 2012. For more information contact Victoria Bryan at swswgradconference@gmail.com.
