EGSA,

Happy Groundhog Day almost. (How does this work in Texas? Winter isn’t six weeks to begin with.) But even happier EGSA Meeting Day.

Announcements

EGSA Meeting

  • This afternoon we will gather as a unified body of English Graduate Student Associates to do important things and hear significant stuff and make some decisions about some undecided items. If that gets your blood pumping, be sure to come and show your enthusiasm. If it’s not so appealing, be sure to come and hide your true feelings.
  • Today, 2:30pm, CS 301

Spring Thesis/Dissertation Formatting Workshops

  • Wed., 13 Feb., 3-5pm, Morrison 120
  • Thurs., 14 Feb., 3-5pm, Morrison 120
  • With all the time you’ve spent with it, I’m sure it feels like you have a meaningful relationship with it. But don’t make this your only Valentine’s Day activity.

Upcoming Events SET: Interdisciplinary Teaching, Mon., 4 Feb., 2-3pm, No location posted

  • Think about crossing a Toulmin analysis paper with calculus or organic chemistry, and then decide if you want to go to this. (My instructions for class today: Identify the claim, warrant, support, qualifier, backing, rebuttal, slope, and pH level in this argument. I’ll let you know how it goes.)

PROFF Workshop: Alternative Paths: Non-Faculty Areas of Employment and Service, Tues., 5 Feb., 3:00-4:30pm, Morrison 120

  • Do you guys remember when your parents sat you down and told you not to study English, but if you did, not to become a teacher, but if you did, to marry someone rich?
  • If you go to this, you’ll only prove them right, and sound marriage advice is not a good enough reason to prove your parents right. Finding gainful employment might be, though.

Downtown Abbey, Tues., 5 Feb., 5:00-6:15pm, CS 101

  • I actually haven’t seen a schedule for the viewings this semester, so I hope this is right. Anyway, I promised myself that this week I’d take things into my own hands.

19CRS, Fri., 8 Feb., 3:30-4:30pm, ABL Lecture Hall

  • Dr. Josh King, “Tennyson’s ‘Christian Year’: The Minimum of Faith and National Spiritual Community” Whoa!! Next Friday!?

Hope your morrow is sunny,

Jeremy Leatham

EGSA Secretary
