  1. EGSA Identity/Goals: flyer for fall introduction to new students

  • Current Statement:  “Baylor’s English Graduate Student Association works to promote camaraderie among graduate students and to advance the professional interests of both M.A. and Ph.D. students. Perhaps foremost, as a liaison between graduate students and both English department faculty and University administration, EGSA serves as an advocate for the graduate student body. Membership in EGSA is open to all Baylor University graduate students in English.”
  • Possible revisions: emphasize EGSA as an advocacy group: Baylor’s English Graduate Student Association advocates for graduate students, serving as a liaison between graduate students and both English department faculty and University administration. EGSA also works to advance the professional interests of both M.A. and Ph.D. students while promoting camaraderie. Membership in EGSA is open to all Baylor University graduate students in English.”

 

  1. Next Year’s Agenda:  Hoagwood Lecture/Symposium, Alumni Contacts, Conference Study Committee

– Changes Next Year: Establish set times for EGSA social events and regular monthly meetings

 

  1. Officer Elections

Executive Officers:      President – Mary Kolner

Vice President – open

Secretary – Bethany Bear

Treasurer –Virginia (yes, until further notice)

PhD/MA Rep – now that Laura and Naomi have compiled MA and PhD-specific degree worksheets, their positions will be consolidated into one At-Large Position. The At-Large member will serve as the contact/liason between grad students and the EGSA Executive Council. Laura Bedwell will serve in this capacity next year.

Other EGSA Positions:  Conference Study Committee (vote for three?)

GSA Rep:

GSA Alts:  Vivien Zelazny, Reid Mackowsky
Social Chairs:  Denise Galloway, open

Technology Chair:  Jeffrey Bilbro

Fundraising Chair – open (Next year, the Fundraising Chair will only have one responsibility: a spring booksale)

Orientation Chair:  Margy Thomas

PDCs (elected in fall)
