First of all – Kudos to Bethany for a fantastic new mode of communication via the EGSA Weekly Digest!

Secondly, I am hijacking this just a bit so that Bethany will not get your flak for sending an extra email this week :-). As many of you know from past experience, many things develop overnight at the end of the school year. Here they are:

1. ENROLL in the Contemporary American class this summer if you are at all interested. Like the Spanish class, it may be cancelled if there are not enough students (at least five). Help out your colleagues who are counting on the class if you can. An UPDATE on the Spanish class – it will probably be offered as a directed course of study this summer because of the low enrollment. This will NOT affect the number of independent studies you can take. If you are interested in adding the class, you must contact Dr. Marian Ortuno (Marian_Ortuno@baylor.edu) and/or Dr. Losey immediately.

2. TRAVEL FUNDS are limited. Although some funding was added this spring and some of you have received approvals of your requests, Dr. Hanks received more requests than he could fill. If you have not received a notification from him, you should not expect travel funds from the English department this semester. Travel funds are, of course, still available through the graduate school: http://www.baylor.edu/graduate/index.php?id=42495

3. EGSA WEEKLY DIGEST will be added to the EGSA website, although attachments will not be made publicly available there. Jeffrey Bilbro (tech chair) is in the process of updating the website – let him know if you have any ideas/feedback on it. The website is now linked to the English department “Graduate” drop-down list: www.bayloregsa.org

Cheers,
Steve
