EGSA: EGSA handbook
Happy Summer, friends! Whether you are laboring through a Summer II seminar, drafting lesson plans, taking exams, dissertating, or (mirabile dictu!) relaxing, I hope you are all doing well. In the coming weeks you will begin to see EGSA emails again. To begin, here is a message from Margy, who needs your help revising the EGSA handbook. — Bethany
HELP REVISE THE EGSA HANDBOOK!
Remember the helpful handbook you received at EGSA orientation? Well, each year that handbook is revised by people just like YOU!
What: revise one chapter of the EGSA handbook–none of the chapters is very long (and get a line on your cv, “handbook committee”) How: Margy Thomas will email you a Word doc of the chapter you are to revise, and you will email the revised version back to her When: She will email chapters to volunteers as they come and will need revisions emailed back to her by the last week of July
Why: Because you LOVE EGSA and our incoming students!
If you’d like to volunteer for a chapter, please email ___Margy_Thomas@baylor.edu____ with your 1st and 2nd choice from the list below (consult your own handbook or email Margy for details on what each section includes.)
If you want to do TWO or even THREE chapters, she will love you even more!!
1. The Program
2. Funding your graduate program
3. Professionalism (conferences, publications, etc)—should probably be collapsed with Chapter 6 below
4. Research Aids–Library and Computer labs
5. EGSA
6. Presenting Conf papers and Publishing Articles
7. Reminders for MA oral exams/thesis
8. Phd Prel. exams and writing diss
9. Finding employment after graduation
10. Where to go and what to do
PS. In a few weeks, Margy will be soliciting volunteers to help on the actual day of orientation 😀
