What do Chaucer, Lady Gaga, the Mamas & the Papas, and the sans-culottes have in common? Read the end of this week’s digest to find out!

* Pub Night at the Dancing Bear on Tuesday, March 1 at 7ish. Come hang out with your colleagues before we all disperse for spring break! (from Heidi and Denise, Social Chairs)

* Greetings from the Electronic Library! We are trying to round up a tech-savvy English grad student to serve on an advisory committee to help us evaluate Edublogs, which is a hosted system offering WordPress sites to colleges and universities. We are trying to get student input on this before we take the plunge, and I’ll bet there are some avid writers and bloggers in the ranks of English grad students over there in Carroll Science

* Don’t forget to notify the English Department office with any conferences you have attended since last September with the conference name, date, location, and paper title.

* Teaching Practices Lunch – If you are interested in a discussion about best teaching practices, join Bethany Bear and others for lunch on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:30 AM. We will use one of our free dining hall meals to eat and Memorial and share ideas about effective course design and classroom practices. Bring a list (and examples, if you’re feeling generous) of your 2-3 most effective teaching ideas. If you are interested, email Bethany Bear.

* Don’t forget to respond to James Watson’s cleverly deceptive email from earlier this week about GSA’s contributions to Baylor’s vision and planning. Contact James Watson if you have any questions.

* If you need a fun way to teach your 2301 kids history, or if you just enjoy intelligent parodies of Lady Gaga, watch this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBa5nN_JyPk) and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXsZbkt0yqo). Thanks to Laura Bedwell for alerting us to these amazing videos.
