EGSA says,

The semester’s first Department Tea had a great turnout—thanks to everyone who helped set it up and to those who came to enjoy some treats while connecting with others in the department. This sort of camaraderie is one of the greatest benefits of Baylor’s English graduate student life!

Please take note of the following notices and events regarding the next two weeks of English Graduate Student life, as well as upcoming and ongoing events.

In the Next Two Weeks

19 C Research Seminar: Transatlantic Studies

Thursday Sept 22 @3:30-4:30pm in the ABL Lecture Hall (basement level)

A note from Dr. King: Two of our Baylor colleagues, Dr. Michael DePalma (English) and Dr. Maura Jortner (English), will share their current research. Dr. DePalma will discuss the influence of Christian Transcendentalism on instruction of 19th C. American ministers. Dr. Jortner will explain how a 19th C. American play, The Forest Rose (1825), was popular with American audiences because they could associate the villain with Captain Hall, an English traveler who had mocked Americans in a travelogue. There will be refreshments.
