EGSA Digest 12-2 from your *famous* secretary (waco trib)

Letter to the Editor from a concerned peer:

Books are Friends…but so are People!

It’ʹs come to my attention over here at the department’ʹs headquarters for Observation and Judgment that, sometimes, English grad students can be…how to put it…ANTISOCIAL. Yes, we all love our bookshelves filled with our “ʺfriends,”ʺ but one eventually must venture out into society, especially in this most festive season. As invites for Christmas parties are filling up your inbox, I can hear you think, “ʺA party? No! What about my papers? What about my friends, the books? Won’ʹt they miss me? People? I don’ʹt want to talk to people. Christmas? Holidays? Festivity? ARRGHHH NOOO.”ʺ Well, grab your inhaler and get ready for this: You should, nay MUST, go to a Christmas party. Really. It can be fun. Also, I know how grad students love to read and prepare for things, so I even have a primer for socialization for you: How to Circulate at Holiday Parties. Yes, I’ʹm suggesting you GO to a party and then actually TALK to people. Mind-‐‑blowing, I know…but it’ʹs social protocol!

Please take note of the following notices and events regarding the next two weeks of English Graduate Student life, as well as upcoming and ongoing events.
