EGSA,

This mid-week email serves three purposes: 1) it provides you with the schedule for this weekend’s events (attached), 2) it clarifies which events we hope you participate in (below), and 3) helps give order and meaning to your life (subject line).

We need participation at the following events:

  • Meet and Greet/Department Tea, Fri., 1-3pm, CS 4th (The tea begins at 2:15, but the prospective students will be here earlier, and we’d like a few people here to talk to them; please email Sarah Clark or Lindsay Fenton if you are available.)
  • 19CRS, Fri., 3:30-4:30pm, ABL Lecture Hall
  • Reception/Introductions, Sat. 9am, CS 4th (This will be light on faculty presentations and heavy on eating breakfast foods and chatting.)
  • Conference panel, Sat., 10am, CS 101

Your more formal invitation from President Kilpatrick is repeated here because one of you didn’t read it the first two times I sent it. You know who you are.

Greetings to all and sundry: I send you this note to remind you of the prospective student weekend’s happenings next weekend, on the afternoon of Friday, March 1, and the morning of Saturday, March 2. This is the first time the department is holding such an event, and Dr. Barcus has asked that the graduate students be a strong presence at the event, as he thinks we are one of the better selling points for the department. Consider yourself honored.

There are 18 confirmed attendees, so we actually will need you to be there. Consider joining us for the afternoon of Friday, March 1, from 1:00-3:00 in the fourth floor lounge for a very informal meet and greet/Department Tea or for the 19 Century Research Seminar at the ABL at 3:30. Dr. Ralph Wood will be speaking, and there will be cookies served after the presentation. Saturday morning’s festivities will begin at 9:00, where there will be another reception, this time with graduate students, faculty members, and breakfast food, in the fourth floor lounge. Immediately following the reception, there will be a conference panel of faculty members and graduate students at 10:00. We need your participation in this activity. Please make an attempt to be active presence in the department for this weekend.

See you (often) this weekend, Jeremy Leatham
EGSA Secretary
