EGSA Digest 01.18.13
EGSA,
In case you missed the hordes of undergraduates or the unreasonable reading assignments on your syllabi, this Digest serves as your official welcome-back-from-what-I-sincerely-hope-was-a-relaxing-and-unproductive-and-not-too-guilt-filled-because- you-weren’t-revising-that-paper-to-send-out-or-applying-to-conferences-or-digging-up-obscure-primary-sources-in-hard-to- access-places-break note. I missed you.
Announcements
Library Research Workshops
- Apparently there’s an emerging resource in the world of academic research that is threatening to change the way we Google. It’s called a library, and you can learn how to use it for free during one of the following workshops, all held in Jones 105:
- Fri., 18 Jan., 3:00-4:30pm
- Wed., 23 Jan., 3:30-5:00pm
- Mon., 28 Jan., 6:00-7:30pm
- Tues., 29 Jan., 5:00-6:30pm
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Next Monday you can sleep in, put off your assignments, or do something valuable for the community (see MLK Events email).
- But don’t go to school.
Deadline
- Last day to file for May 2013 Commencement: Fri., 25 Jan.
- To ensure you remember this deadline: Picture sitting in Dr. Barcus’s office and explaining to him that, contrary to what you’ve been promising him for the last nine years, you’re not graduating this Spring after all.
EGSA Meeting
- The date, time, and location of this meeting have not been set. The sole purpose of this announcement is to get you excited.
Upcoming Events
PROFF Workshop: Negotiating the Offer, Wed., 23 Jan., 10:00-11:30am, Jones 2nd Floor (Creekmore?)
- This looks like a good one for overconfident optimists.
- For the rest of us, wait for PROFF Workshop: Just Say Yes
It’s good to be back. Kind of.
