EGSA,
We have a full plate today. I’ll try to keep it simple.

Announcements

Dues

  • I have run out of creative ways to ask you for money. Heidi, on the other hand, is far more resourceful. She will find you, and she will not spare your children. Hand it over voluntarily. It’s better that way.
  • $10 (cash preferred) in her envelope (on a desk in CS 406) or in her hand will do; your posterity will thank you.

TeaCHE

  • If you would like to participate in the Teaching Certificate in Higher Education (TeaCHE) program this year, you must file the Intent to Participate form by Monday, 17 Sep.
  • For more information and the form itself click on the image below.

Graduate Writing Center

  • Advanced graduate students are available to help you with your writing. Email them your paper at gwc@baylor.edu, and they will contact you to set up a one-hour appointment.
  • There’s nothing funny about poor writing–at least not when it’s your own.

Upcoming Events

Welcome the New People . . . Autumn Party, Tomorrow, 7:30pm, Watsons’

Human Subjects in Research Seminar, Tue., 18 Sep., 3:30-5:00pm, Baylor Sciences Building C206

  • Dr. Dave Schlueter, IRB chair, and Dr. Wade Rowatt, IRB vice chair, will be conducting an IRB seminar. The seminar will include a brief discussion of ethical and regulatory underpinnings of human subjects research and will provide detailed guidance, including “how to” demonstrations, for completing both the online training required of Baylor investigators and the online project submission, review and approval process.
  • I’m not completely sure what we have here, and I must say that the “underpinnings of human subjects” and “‘how to’ demonstrations” have me a bit nervous, but I have it on good authority that this will be valuable training if you plan to interact with humans during your research. Fortunately, it looks like most of the follow-up trainings regarding human research are online.
